Mountaineering Level I

Course intended for those who want to get started in wintry mountain. This course’s objectives are to know he dangers and peculiarities of wintry mountain as well as the necessary materials to practice it, emphasizing security from the beginning. It’ a theoretical and practical course whose final objective is to acquire the knowledge to independently and safely climbing low difficulty routes in high mountain areas.

  • Target dangers of wintry mountain
  • Rescue systems for avalanche victims, Arva protocol and searching in case of avalanche
  • Progression techniques in snowy terrains
  • Self-arrests
  • Knowing how to progress through ice, “all points” technique
  • Basic knots
  • Snow anchoring
  • Securing techniques in snow, dynamic securing and basic roping.

 Necessary material

  • Mountaineering boots
  • 35l bag
  • Impermeable jacket
  • Impermeable trousers
  • Warm clothes
  • 2 pairs of gloves
  • Bonnet
  • Sun and blizzard glasses
  • Food and water

*Optional: if you don’t have some of these materials we can borrow you some to make the course.
