Self-rescue in ravines

All mountain disciplines have their own self-rescue manoeuvres with the purpose of dealing with any situation, typical of the modality, that may occur during the activity.

This course is intended for experienced canyonists who want to know the methods and manoeuvres of self-rescuing in ravines.

  • Duración: 4 theoretical-practical journeys
  • Época Ideal: February- November

Contenidos

  • Day 1: Introduction and installation of the activity. Descents with 8 and dynamic (with and without self-assurance). Knot passing through the lowering system. Ascension with rope, knot passing while ascending, conversion to descent and knot passing while descending.
  • Day 2: Unblocking the lark knot during rappel with an auxiliary rope by counterweight. desbloqueo de alondrado en el rapel con cuerda auxiliar por contra peso. Rope cutting, in head and at the injured level. Reppelling with injured person (with two 8 knots, one of them in “V” and a sheved one). Diverters passing with injured person in rappelling. Recessed knot release in the installation to unhook the blocked person.
  • Day 3: Descending through tight rope and injured releasing by counterweight and descending with the injured person. Ascension through rope to reach an injured person in the vertical and descending with him.
  • Day 4: Practical implementation of all the manoeuvres in a ravine.

 Necessary material

  • Full ravine suit
  • Climbing helmet
  • Ravine footwear
  • Neoprene gloves (optional)
  • Ravine knife
  • Ravine harness with anchoring ropes
  • Ravine bag and watertight drum
  • Whistle
  • Express band with two HMS safety carabiners
  • Four HMS carabiners
  • Ravine lowering device with carabiner
  • Classical 8 lowering device
  • 2 7mm & 1,5 mtrs lines for machard
  • 1 small mechanical blocker like tibloc
  • Line to make Valdostano made of 10,5mm of dynamic 2mtrs rope.
  • Mountain clothes for the practice days in dry environments.
