Saas Fee’s four thousands

If this is the first time that you visit the Alps and you want to get started in progression through glaciers as well as in ascensions to four-thousand-metres mountains, this is the indicated programme. This week will give you the experience when using crampons and piolets so you can think about performing any other of the programmes we offer.

 Programme

  • Day 1: Meeting point in Chamomix at 16:00h to travel to Saas Grund, where we will spend the night.
  • Day 2: Cable car to Hoshssas – climb to Weissmies 4.023m – descent to Saas Grund
  • Day 3: Cable car of Felskin and climb to Britania shelter 2.990m.
  • Day 4: Ascension to Allalinhorn 4.027m – Alphubel 4.188m – descent with cable car to a Saas Fee.
  • Day 5: Ascension to Dom shelter 2.940m
  • Day 6: Ascension to Dom 4.545m – Descent to Randa
  • Day 7: Reserve day.

Details

  • Ratio: 1 to 3 participants– 1 IFMGA high mountain guide
  • Dates: From June to September
  • Difficulty: F
  • Technical level F: These are climbs with no big difficulties which pass through glacial ground where it's necessary to take the security measures. A little less demanding in descents than the rest of the programmes we offer; it will however be necessary to have a good physical condition to perform activities with up to 1000 positive slope metres in about 8 hours.
  • Requirements: To be in possession of the FEDME card with the Europe modality of the current year.

 Price

  • Price: 1 pax 1500€, 2pax 750€ and 3 pax 500€
  • Things included:

    IFMGA guide service, management, guide’s security technical material.

  • Not included:

    Transport, trip costs and routes, shelter expenses and accommodation, cable cars… both client and guide (around 500€ per person).

 Necessary material

Adequate clothes for high mountain and intense cold. Gore-tex or similar jacket and trousers, rigid plastic or leather high mountain boots, leggings, 2 thermal-socks pairs, cap or balaclava helmet, thermal underwear and a change, sun and blizzard glasses, two pairs of gloves, crampons and ice axes, harness, a safety snap hook, a 7mm 2 metres line, 40-50 litres backpack, water bottle, attack food (sweet and salty), isotonic drink, sun cream, head torch and extra batteries, toilet bag, light sleeping bag.
