High Mountain and Canyoning Guide

Sierra de Guara

We have a base in Sierra de Guara, in the Camping de los Cañones of Sierra de Guara and Formiga, in Panzano, next to the Formiga canyon, which makes us the closest guide Company to this Sierra de Guara’s referral canyon and which allows us to enter in hours that will allow us to enjoy this activity with intimacy.

Sierra de Guara has traditionally being a global destiny to practice canyoning given its orographic characteristics, where we will be able to carry out ravines with very different characteristics, with the possibility to choose, depending on the preference, canyons with more or less jumps, rappels, lengths, types of rock, dries, with water…

Sierra de Guara is an enclave where we can visit picturesque places in most of the approximations, and where if we correctly choose the timetables and descents, we will be able to enjoy the environment avoiding the high tourism season overcrowdings.

With more than 60 possible descents in Sierra de Guara, the most highlighted canyons of the mountain range are: Mascún, Gorgas negras, Formiga, Peonera, Vero, Oscuros de balced, Fornocal, Básender, Lazas, Escomentué, Portiacha…

*The schedules are orientative and will depend on the number of the group and it is considered that their level is according to the difficulty..

 Programme

This schedule is addressed to those who want to carry out a week of canyonism in Sierra de Guara. Different descents will be performed so the participant can acquire the necessary knowledges to perform and he can get to know the Sierra de Guara’s most famous descents. The temperature of water in the mountain range and the adherence of the rocks in this zone will allow us to enjoy a week we won’t forget easily.

  • Day 1: Básender ravine, dry ravine, rappel initiation placed in the eastern part of the mountain range. Amazing calcareous formation that, being an affluent of the Vero river will allow us to know Lecina’s mill, and if the group is interested, the henhouse paintings and the rout of Vero’s staircases.
  • Day 2: Peonera ravine, incredibly fun aquatic descent with a big number of jumps and toboggans, most known as the “Sierra de Guara’s aquapark”
  • Day 3: Formiga ravine, Sierra de Guara’s most known and performed descent which combines rappel and aquatic descent with plenty of jumps, toboggans and even a small cave, perfect to get an idea of what canyonisme is about.
  • Day 4: Oscuros de Balced ravine, mountain range’s geological jewel due to its form which also combines rappel with water and a spectacular approximation in one of the wildest areas of Guara’s environment.
  • Day 5: Cañón del Vero, to finish the schedule, this descent with larger duration tan the previous ones, but incredibly beautiful, has been a mountain’s range icon since the beginnings of canyonisme in 1970 That’s why the “pirineísta”, Patrice de Bellefon, included it inside his book about the 100 best climbs and excursion of the Pyrenees.
